Having opened in April 2019 with 3 dedicated team members and 1 Optometrist, Spec-Savers Medicross Hayfields in Pietermaritzburg is able to offer our patients 1 testing room equipped with a Retinal Camera, iCare Tonometer, and Spectrum Visual Aquity Chart.

David Sparrow, a Pietermaritzburg local boy, having attended Maritzburg College and is the resident Optometrist of Spec-Savers Medicross Hayfields.

David graduated from Rand Afrikaans University in 2001 and has a passion for eye-care, sports vision and family. 

We perceive our customers as patients first, whose visual needs, need to be addressed in a professional manner. We need to get them to see clearly before we get them to look good with our great frame options. "My role as the Optometrist is to make sure the patient understands what they are puchasing and why they required this."

We aim to provide (with passion) a focus on: Friendliness, professionalism, and honesty.
