The moringa tree is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree that is found all around the world in semiarid, tropical, and subtropical areas. Due to this, the moringa tree has many different local names and nick names. It is considered to be one of the world’s most useful trees, as almost every part of the tree can be used for food, or has another beneficial property. The moringa leaves are a powerhouse of many necessary vitamins, proteins, and minerals that our bodies need. These leaves are typically dried and ground into a powder to be used in cooking or shakes. In general, it is recommended to eat 1 tsp to 1 tbsp of pure moringa powder per day. When making single serving portions for children, ½ tsp or less is needed. Only use larger amounts, such as whole tablespoons, when making a dish for the whole family. It is important to note that to get the full nutritional impact from moringa powder, it should be added at the end of cooking your dish, as to not destroy any phyto-nutrients and vitamins.



Yummy Green Thai Curry Soup

You will need:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp moringa powder
  • 2 tbsp green curry paste
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro or basil
  • 1- 2 cups of bok choy
  • 1 – 2 cups of snap peas 
  • 300g of your favourite noodles 
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts (garnish)
  • lime slices (garnish)

Method:

  • Make the noodles according to the directions on the package.
  • Blend the milk, water, green curry paste, soy sauce, a handful of cilantro, and ginger in a blender until light green and thoroughly mixed.
  • Heat the broth until boiling and let simmer for about 5 minutes, then add the Moringa powder and soy sauce, blend and then set on a low heat for 2 more minutes.
  • Spoon the soup into bowls and add the noodles, bok choy, and snap peas. Garnish with peanuts and a lime slice.






Creamy Avocado & Moringa Pasta


Try this super-charged pasta, mixed with avocado, creamy hummus, and our mighty moringa to create a delicious pasta sauce that's full of both flavour and goodness.

You will need:

  • 1 tbsp moringa powder
  • Pasta of your choice
  • 120g hummus 
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ garlic clove
  • Black pepper
  • A splash of lemon juice


To serve:

  • Handful of rocket
  • Hemp seed
  • Pumpkin seed

METHOD:

Cook the pasta as recommended on the package. 
Add the remaining ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If you would like a thinner sauce, add some warm water and blend once more.

Mix in the cooked pasta and top with rocket, hemp seeds, and pumpkin seeds.
